I am naturally gregarious and energetic in style and I have a strength of mediating an outcome that suits all parties. I am often approached to support mentees with how to manage their stakeholders to improve their career prospects and help make their next career move. I also have a very intuitive style and have a knack for putting myself in others shoes and providing a different perspective. This can be helpful for mentees who want to improve their working relationships.

Career

Prior to British Gas, I spent 10 years in the water industry, carrying out several operational roles. I joined Anglian Water as a graduate where I had my first mentoring experience and have always had a mentor ever since. I joined British Gas in 2010 and have had a range of different senior roles in what was then British Gas Business including Head of Energy Consultancy, BGB Strategy, and Head of Products and Propositions and Commercial before recently moving into Field Operations within British Gas.

I have managed large teams and had several strategy roles where I have had to deliver change without a team through influence and good stakeholder management.

Because I benefited early on in my career from my own mentoring experiences, I have always invested in people to explore how to get them to be at their best. I have used mentoring as a way of supporting employees who want to make a change but don’t know how. I get a personal buzz when I see great things happening!

Why I Became a Mentor

I would like to give something back to the industry that has made my own career. I have a range of different experiences from the industry that may help others. I also have a general desire to support and encourage others to be their best and get my own sense of gratification when I see others succeed. Mentoring is something I have always done and I have always had a mentor too (and still do!).
