Menopause Awareness For All
– Health challenges at work are widespread – negatively impacting attendance, confidence, and performance across the UK.
– Menopause affects everyone: directly impacting all assigned female at birth and indirectly affecting partners, families, colleagues, and teams.
– The scale is undeniable: 5.5 million women aged 45-60 years are in UK employment , and research suggests that 73% will be facing menopausal symptoms.
– Workplace impact is significant: 67% say symptoms negatively affect their work, and 53% have been unable to attend work because of them.
– Yet menopause often remains hidden: almost 1 in 5 of those unable to work due to their symptoms report not disclosing this to their manager.
– Inadequate support is driving talent loss: almost 1 in 4 have either considered leaving – or left – work due to inadequate menopause support.
– Supporting menopause at work is vital. It empowers individuals and teams, reduces stress, protects productivity, and both retains and attracts talent.

Dr Kate Burns qualified in Pharmacy in Cardiff (2002) before completing her medical degree at the University of Birmingham (2007). She returned to Wales for GP training and has practised as a GP since 2012. With a longstanding interest in women’s health and contraception, she has developed a specialist focus in menopause care since 2020. She has experience in specialist contraception and menopause clinics, continues to work in out-of-hours GP services and a local Women’s Health Hub, and teaches clinical and communication skills to medical students.

Dr Rebeccah Tomlinson qualified from Cardiff School of Medicine in 2002 and trained in Primary Care. She specialises in women’s health, with extensive experience establishing and running sexual health and contraception clinics. She leads a weekly menopause clinic in her local hospital, supports the development of the Women’s Health Hub within Cardiff and Vale University Health Board, and contributes to local staff training. She is also the Welsh Medical Advisor and a Trustee for the Menstrual Health Project charity, and a registered CoSRH- and BMS-accredited Menopause Specialist and Trainer.

Together, with Dr Kate Burns, Rebeccah co-founded Empower All Training, driven by a shared commitment to delivering high-quality, empathetic, and individualised care.

Empower All Training supports businesses to better understand and manage hormonal health in the workplace. With the Menopause (Menstrual Health) Action Plan coming into effect in Spring 2027, now is the ideal time to strengthen awareness, education, and practical support across teams. We work with all levels of an organisation, with our most popular sessions focusing on “supporting the supporters” – equipping everyone, not just those directly affected, to create a more informed and inclusive workplace.
