What is WUN?
WUN’s mission is to support a utilities sector where women join, stay and thrive.
WUN was started to give women the skills and confidence they need to build lasting, fulfilling careers in the utility sector. WUN seeks to help other women to build the right networks, get the right training and take control of their own work lives at whichever stage of their career they are at.
Our philosophy is to ensure the network is free to its members so they can develop and thrive in the sector. We are able to do this through the generous support of our partner organisations.
WUN has successfully grown to more than 7,500 members and over 55 partners since it started in 2018. It delivers its mission through a wide offer, that continues to develop. This includes events, blogs, podcasts, mentoring, executive dinners, surveys, speaking opportunities and for 2024 the newly launched Women in Utilities Awards. We also support a network of accredited Associates who offer paid for coaching and other services to our members.
The Role
WUN is primarily lead and run by volunteers, with a combination of Founders, Board and Advocates organising most activities. The team is supported by a small, but highly effective, administration management team.
The key limitation currently is capacity, and as the network continues to attract attention across the sector there are countless opportunities to do more. This secondment opportunity is designed to provide a sponsored 6-12 month career development opportunity for an individual, with the objective of developing transferable skills and a broader network that can be taken back to their workplace. The role will primarily be focused on expanding the range and breadth of internal and external events that WUN supports in response to demand.
