“During the short time I have been an advocate, I have been hugely appreciative of the group of women I get to surround myself with, who are champions for one another. Being an advocate enables me to share my experiences and delve into topics which I am interested in that will support other women in the utility sector. I am so proud to see what WUN have achieved in the short space of time that it has been founded and being a part of that for the future is truly special”.
Kara Sadler is the Head of Water Quality at South Staffs & Cambridge Water and has had over 13 years’ experience within the Water Industry. Over the last four years, Kara has integrated herself with various DEI groups across the Companies and organisations that she has worked with. Kara has led on building networking and strong relationships which are key to the success of inclusion in the workplace, for women and allies alike. She realises that there are numerous communities within the utilities industry that are working on some powerful inclusion pieces, and Kara wants to find her role in supporting WUN in uniting these groups.
“Everything WUN stands for is what makes me proud to say that I am an advocate. From the moment I met another fellow advocate, to the time in being enrolled, I have been overwhelmed with the welcome and supportive group of people involved. We know as a utilities sector that we are facing a skills gap shortage, and we know that we cannot continue to appeal to the same demographics that we have done previously. I want to share my passion, to contribute to the success of women playing their part in making a success of the industries we serve.”
